Family & Community Engagement at Severn Primary School
FAMILY ENGAGEMENT AT SEVERN PRIMARY SCHOOL
“Research shows that children do better at school when their parents are actively involved in their education”.
We try to provide plenty of opportunities for parents to participate in school life as we want to understand what you want from our school and what we can do for you.
Mrs Karen Gunning is our Family & Community Engagement Officer. If you want to contact Mrs Gunning, you can leave a message for her in the school main office, telephone the school on 02920387507 or email Mrs Gunning on email@example.com
Parents and carers have always played an important role in our school. Some parents have roles on the Governing Body, some parents volunteer regularly and some parents are members of the PTA. We are keen to continue developing links with parents so if you are interested in any of the above please contact school.
Any events that are arranged for families are sent out via the Schoop app, put on the notice boards in the playgrounds and also on the newsletter section of the website. Please keep reading the information that is displayed.
COURSES FOR PARENTS & CARERS
All parents are welcome to take part in the courses & workshops we offer. Some are run in conjunction with Severn Road Adult Community Learning Centre (ACLC) which is located upstairs, above the junior school building. We also offer Access Courses with Cardiff Metropolitan University Widening Access Team. All information on our courses is sent via Schoop and displayed on the school notice boards. There are also regular coffee mornings held to give you more information. If you would like any further information, please contact Mrs Gunning.
The courses we have successfully run with the Severn Road Adult Community Learning Centre include:
Our courses with the ACLC last approximately 2 hours and always include free childcare.
The access courses we run with Cardiff Metropolitan University are:
We hold regular coffee mornings. This will be the ideal time for you to come in, meet other parents and have a chat. We will also be arranging for visitors to come in including the school nurse, the attendance officer, South Wales Fire Service and an opportunity to meet your local Police Community Support Officers. This will give you a chance to chat about any concerns you have about your local neighbourhood.
If you have any questions, please call in and speak to Mrs Gunning. Please remember to check out Schoop and look at our website. Don’t forget, our Schoop ID is 10442. We are planning more courses and workshops with the adult learning centre, details will be posted on the website and text messages and schoops will be sent out.
